The 137th Special Operations Wing welcomes its first AT-802U trainer aircraft at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, Oklahoma City, July 29, 2024, following test pilot training at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The AT-802U trainer aircraft will be used to train initial cadre in a representative tail wheel aircraft in preparation for the missionized Armed Overwatch (OA-1K) variant. Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall selected WRANGB for the Total Force Integration OA-1K Formal Training Unit. The OA-1K is a low-cost, multirole, rapidly-deployable, small-to-medium size aircraft system to support geographically isolated special operations personnel. The aircraft will perform close air support, precision strike, armed intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in austere and permissive environments. Oklahoma Army National Guardsman 1st Lt. Makya Stell, assigned to the 205th Network Signal Company, 45th Field Artillery Brigade, wins the annual “NetWars” games during the Cyber Shield training event held at the Virginia National Guard State Military Reservation in Virginia Beach on June 8th, 2024. Stell was the first woman to have ever won the “NetWars” games as an individual player. SANS NetWars focuses on the practical application and assessment of hands-on cybersecurity training. The cyber range enables individuals to apply the knowledge they gained during training week in an isolated environment that prepares them for exercise week. Cyber Shield is the longest-running and largest Department of Defense cyber exercise composed of approximately 900 N.G. and Army Reserve Soldiers, Airmen, civilian cyber professionals, and international partners from across the globe. New Oklahoma National Guard Museum opens to public

OKLAHOMA CITY - Decades of military history officially transitioned into a new era as the Oklahoma National Guard hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 11 for its newly constructed museum, marking the culmination of a multi-year effort to preserve and expand the legacy of Oklahoma’s Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen.

Located just south of the Oklahoma Military Department at 3301 Northeast Grand Blvd., the 39,375-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, constructed by Hensel Phelps Construction Company, serves as a benchmark for state National Guard museums across the nation.

The opening comes after a 2024 groundbreaking and a temporary casing of the colors in 2025 for the museum's historic home of nearly 50 years, a 1930s Works Progress Administration armory.
