OKGuard supports wild land fire operations near Woodward

At the request of the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, the Oklahoma National Guard activated one UH-60 Black Hawk and crew on August 15 to support wild land fire operations near Woodward, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Army National Guard assets are providing the incident commander with aerial water drops via helicopter bucket.

The buckets used by OKARNG helicopter crews hold up to 660 gallons of water that can be dropped directly on fires or in areas where incident commanders and firefighters want to prevent spread.

U.S. Army Soldiers with the Oklahoma National Guard partnered alongside Royal Brunei Land Forces personnels to sharpen their skills during Exercise Pahlawan Warrior 26, Aug. 11-21, 2026, building readiness through stronger relationships, shared tactics, and jungle training. Pahlawan Warrior 26 brought approximately 130 U.S. personnel to Brunei Darussalam for the biennial U.S. Army Pacific and Royal Brunei Land Forces exercise under Operation PATHWAYS. Led by 1st Squadron, 180th Cavalry Regiment, Oklahoma National Guard, U.S. participants trained alongside RBLF in tactical operations and subject-matter expert exchanges spanning cyber defense, medical operations and public affairs.
