OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma National Guard is proud to announce that one of its own, Air Force Brig. Gen. Christopher A. Eason, has been confirmed for appointment to the grade of major general and assignment as The Judge Advocate General of the United States Air Force and Space Force. Brig. Gen. Eason will be the first Air National Guardsmen to hold this post since its establishment on January 25, 1949.

This assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., is a testament to the leadership and dedication Eason demonstrated throughout his career, most recently as the Chief of Staff and Commander of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, where he was also the first member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps to hold those positions.

“This is an exciting and proud moment for the entire Oklahoma National Guard,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas H. Mancino, the adjutant general for Oklahoma. “Chris Eason represents the best of our organization. His experience as a military and civilian prosecutor, coupled with his proven leadership of our state’s Airmen, makes him the ideal choice to serve as The Judge Advocate General. We are immensely proud of his achievements and congratulate him on this nomination.”

During his role with the Oklahoma National Guard, Eason was the principal advisor to The Adjutant General on all Oklahoma Air National Guard matters. He was directly responsible for the combat readiness, operational effectiveness, and welfare of more than 2,300 Oklahoma Airmen across two wings, ensuring they were prepared to support missions within the community, and at state and federal levels.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Eason has served with distinction for over two decades in the active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and the Air National Guard. His distinguished career includes prosecuting two al-Qaeda members for law of war violations, including their roles in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and the U.S.S. Cole bombing.

In his civilian capacity, Eason serves as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice, further highlighting the exceptional caliber of the Citizen-Airmen within the Oklahoma National Guard.

The Oklahoma National Guard congratulates Brig. Gen. Eason on this incredible honor and looks forward to his continued success in serving our state and nation.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Decades of military history officially transitioned into a new era as the Oklahoma National Guard hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 11 for its newly constructed museum, marking the culmination of a multi-year effort to preserve and expand the legacy of Oklahoma’s Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen.

Located just south of the Oklahoma Military Department at 3301 Northeast Grand Blvd., the 39,375-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, constructed by Hensel Phelps Construction Company, serves as a benchmark for state National Guard museums across the nation.

The opening comes after a 2024 groundbreaking and a temporary casing of the colors in 2025 for the museum's historic home of nearly 50 years, a 1930s Works Progress Administration armory.
