The Oklahoma Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors program renders professional military funeral honors, in accordance with service tradition, to all eligible veterans when requested by an authorized family member.
As provided by law, an honor guard detail for the burial of an eligible veteran shall consist of not less than two members of the Armed Forces. The honor detail will, at a minimum, perform a ceremony that includes the folding and presenting of the American Flag to the next of kin and the playing of Taps.
You may contact your local funeral home director to initiate a request for Military Funeral Honors for a deceased veteran. You will need to provide proof of military service in the form of a DD-214 or Statement of Service.
Join the OKARNG Military Funeral Honors program
The OKARNG Military Funeral Honors program is an elite group of specially trained Soldiers who render military honors for all eligible veterans and retirees throughout Oklahoma. The program only selects Soldiers who possess unwavering character, morality and professional skills.
Potential candidates must:
- Live the Army Values 100 percent of the time
- Meet Army physical standards
- Be proficient and knowledgeable in their respective military occupational specialty
- Be self motivated
If selected, candidates will undergo five days of instruction with our National Guard Bureau certified trainers. After completing training, candidates will be evaluated and based on performance, the candidate is notified of selection or rejection.
Duty status
M-Day (traditional National Guard duty) - Choose your own work schedule; M-Day is paid 1 RMA per day worked.
ADOS - Openings are subject to availability in Oklahoma City and Broken Arrow.
