WEBVTT 00:06.329 --> 00:08.560 We have to get ahead . We can't be 00:08.560 --> 00:10.600 behind our adversaries . We have to 00:10.600 --> 00:12.822 train with and be prepared for national 00:12.822 --> 00:14.933 disasters , whether that's manmade or 00:14.933 --> 00:17.379 natural . Today we're doing an exercise 00:17.379 --> 00:19.639 called Exercise Thunderstruck 2.0 , and 00:19.639 --> 00:21.750 we are showcasing the work we've done 00:21.750 --> 00:23.639 over the past couple of years for 00:23.639 --> 00:25.861 Oklahoma National Guard UAS counter UAS 00:25.861 --> 00:27.972 program . We're out here today at the 00:27.972 --> 00:29.917 Oklahoma National Guard conducting 00:29.917 --> 00:31.750 really a kind of a one of a kind 00:31.940 --> 00:34.500 advanced implementation of drone 00:34.500 --> 00:37.580 warfare . We found looking at modern 00:37.580 --> 00:39.691 warfare , for instance , in Ukraine , 00:39.779 --> 00:41.840 they're using tens of thousands of 00:41.840 --> 00:45.220 small first person FPV drones , and I 00:45.220 --> 00:47.387 need to make sure that my soldiers are 00:47.387 --> 00:49.442 aware of this threat and that we can 00:49.442 --> 00:51.164 develop the technologies . the 00:51.164 --> 00:53.387 procedures to counter that threat . The 00:53.387 --> 00:55.220 Secretary of War Hegseth has put 00:55.220 --> 00:57.331 forward an initiative . He's told the 00:57.331 --> 00:59.387 Army to go forth and do this kind of 00:59.387 --> 01:01.442 training . We were lucky we had this 01:01.442 --> 01:03.498 plan for more than a year , so we're 01:03.498 --> 01:03.185 one of the first ones to execute this 01:03.185 --> 01:05.705 type of training ever . The beginning 01:05.705 --> 01:08.224 of the UAS program was an idea and 01:08.224 --> 01:10.113 conversation when we saw what was 01:10.113 --> 01:12.224 happening in Ukraine and Russia , and 01:12.224 --> 01:13.835 thoughts started happening , 01:13.835 --> 01:15.835 discussions started happening . And 01:15.835 --> 01:17.668 then collaboration happened with 01:17.668 --> 01:19.724 Oklahoma State , OU , Southwestern , 01:19.724 --> 01:21.891 Tulsa , all the academic partners that 01:21.891 --> 01:23.946 we have , and then industry and then 01:23.946 --> 01:26.168 military and government and finally the 01:26.168 --> 01:28.168 state of Oklahoma . It's all coming 01:28.168 --> 01:30.224 together and that's what you see for 01:30.224 --> 01:32.335 Exercise Thunderstruck as we continue 01:32.335 --> 01:31.849 to evolve , we're going to continue to 01:31.849 --> 01:34.360 work on those problems . In Oklahoma in 01:34.360 --> 01:36.582 the National Guard and partnership with 01:36.582 --> 01:38.527 Governor Ste and the legislature , 01:38.527 --> 01:40.582 they've been extremely supportive of 01:40.582 --> 01:42.360 this effort . We're able to put 01:42.360 --> 01:44.589 together a kind of a leading laboratory 01:44.589 --> 01:46.311 for some of these techniques , 01:46.311 --> 01:48.533 technologies that you see out here with 01:48.533 --> 01:50.700 our partners , and that really lets us 01:50.700 --> 01:53.550 see on a simulated battlefield what 01:53.550 --> 01:55.661 works and what doesn't work before we 01:55.661 --> 01:57.717 have to put our soldiers into harm's 01:57.717 --> 01:59.939 way . This is the new normal , not only 01:59.939 --> 02:02.720 for the war fight but also for domestic 02:02.720 --> 02:04.498 operations here in the state of 02:04.498 --> 02:06.609 Oklahoma and the future depends on us 02:06.609 --> 02:07.720 training now before we get there .
