WEBVTT 00:02.339 --> 00:05.599 All right . So today is the culmination 00:05.599 --> 00:08.699 of several years of hard work to open 00:08.699 --> 00:10.977 the new Oklahoma National Guard Museum . 00:10.977 --> 00:13.199 We're doing the ribbon cutting with our 00:13.199 --> 00:15.366 VIP guest and so many people that have 00:15.366 --> 00:17.590 made this project come to fruition , 00:17.770 --> 00:20.260 and , uh , it's important for us to 00:20.260 --> 00:22.316 open this new institution in what is 00:22.316 --> 00:24.719 our 50th year of operation as a museum . 00:26.659 --> 00:28.437 This museum is so important for 00:28.437 --> 00:30.979 Oklahoma . It is our way to pay tribute 00:30.979 --> 00:33.540 and honor , uh , servicemen and women 00:33.540 --> 00:35.318 who have served in the Oklahoma 00:35.318 --> 00:37.262 National Guard and the Forty-fifth 00:37.262 --> 00:39.596 Infantry Division , share their history , 00:39.596 --> 00:41.651 and to make sure that Oklahomans are 00:41.651 --> 00:43.740 aware and educated of how important 00:43.740 --> 00:47.590 that service is . This museum 00:47.590 --> 00:50.209 uh has storylines that we've not had 00:50.209 --> 00:52.279 before . It also has artifacts that 00:52.279 --> 00:54.810 have never been seen before and so it's 00:54.810 --> 00:57.090 an opportunity for new learning and a 00:57.090 --> 00:59.209 new way to see the historical 00:59.209 --> 01:01.209 importance of the Oklahoma National 01:01.209 --> 01:04.989 Guard . The old museum didn't 01:04.989 --> 01:07.669 cover the state missions and so it 01:07.669 --> 01:09.580 covers everything from the Murrah 01:09.580 --> 01:12.589 bombing and COVID , Hurricane Katrina , 01:12.709 --> 01:15.589 our response to tornadoes , and so it's 01:15.589 --> 01:17.478 a whole new way to make sure that 01:17.478 --> 01:19.700 people understand the dual mission of , 01:19.700 --> 01:21.811 of the National Guard that they serve 01:21.811 --> 01:23.756 in times of war , they serve their 01:23.756 --> 01:25.533 their state in times of peace . 01:27.739 --> 01:30.019 So the museum will be open Tuesday 01:30.019 --> 01:32.540 through Saturday 10 to 5 , and on 01:32.540 --> 01:34.580 Sunday 1 to 5 we will be closed on 01:34.580 --> 01:37.779 Mondays . We're open , uh , on Memorial 01:37.779 --> 01:39.946 Day , Veterans Day , and the Fourth of 01:39.946 --> 01:41.319 July , but closed most state holidays .
