Director, Joint Staff

Col. Jon HarrisonColonel Jon M. Harrison is the Director, Joint Staff, Joint Force Headquarters – Oklahoma. He serves as the primary assistant to The Adjutant General with overall responsibility and oversight of more than 1,000 full-time employees of the Oklahoma Army National Guard and directly supervises the Staff Directors (J-1, G-1, J-3, G-4, J-5/7, J-6, J-8, State Aviation Officer, Director of Engineering, Chaplain, and Staff Judge Advocate) and the five major brigade-size subordinate command full-time Officers in Charge. Colonel Harrison provides The Adjutant General with pertinent data, information and insight from the Staffs with timely and solid guidance. He ensures that The Adjutant General is informed at all times on critical and pertinent issues and events that affect his decision making. Colonel Harrison is also responsible for the execution of the Federal and State Budgets for the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard and provides oversight of the Recruiting and Retention Program for the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Prior to receiving his commission COL Harrison served for four years as an enlisted member of the OKARNG. Upon commissioning, COL Harrison served on active duty in a variety of aviation assignments in the 8th Infantry Division, Mainz Germany, the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division, FT Campbell KY, and 18th COSCOM, Wonju Korea. Since 1997 COL Harrison has served in the OKARNG at the Company, Battalion, and General Staff levels. He was assigned as Director of Aviation in August 2006 through March 2015.
